That's masking tape on the bottom. I label all my pieces with the date. I forgot to remove it for this photo shoot. The spike is visible against the background of the tape.

There's also a stray thread of glass running along one side, and a crack that healed in the annealer.

Anyway, it's wide enough to put a candle in, which I recommend, because this piece looks much better in the dark.
