Hill Slugs Ad Hoc, Saturday, 18 June

15 June 2011

Hey, Slugs!  Let's do something we haven't done in two years:  the Double Reservoir Ride.

We'll start in Frenchtown and climb up to Spruce Run Reservoir, where we'll go in and gawk at the scenery.  After a rest stop in High Bridge, we'll go see Round Valley.  Then there's more climbing, more views, and a second rest stop in Pittstown.  It's not all downhill from there.  The total distance hovers around 60 miles.

This route is the hilliest one I'll lead all year, but it's also one of the prettiest.

Meet in the parking lot of the Bridge Cafe on Bridge Street in Frenchtown.  As you approach the bridge, the cafe is on the left.  There are two parking lots:  the near one, in front of the cafe, is paved.   The one past the cafe is dirt.  Meet in the paved lot at 8:30 a.m.

Pace pushers know what to do with themselves.

Thanks, Ken!

The steepest climb was on Cokesbury Road (the big hill after the first rest stop, not the "annoying little hill"): 14.4% on one section.

By the way, here's my entry from May 2009, the last time I did this ride:
